Who are TALC?
TALC are two grown men that felt the need
to write and perform material that spoke to them, that made
them fall in love with music all over again. After a meeting
on christmas day at James Knights' house, over turkey prepared
by his good friend Nichol Thomson the intrepid pair decided
they were full. Full of the usual pop/rock deserts on offer
and would make their own recipe.
And so TALC were born.
What are the tunes about?
Thanks for asking! TALC put everyday things
to music. "Father Tomato" is about a young carrot
who, after leaving home, gets shot by Dustin Hoffman. "Modern
Sleep Over" on the other hand is about the love between
a human and her computer, set in the near future. Obvious
really.
Who are TALC's influences?
Both having extensive record collections most
bases are covered but favorite's include Steely Dan, Buddy
Miles, The Doobie Brothers, Beach Boys and Frank Zappa.
But let it not be said that contemporary artists don't get
a look in. They do.
Who plays the instruments in TALC?
All the instruments/vocals were done by those
TALC boys. All of them. As players/vocalist's the lads go
under the names of Dr.Fun and The Gift. No one knows why...
Have they a live band? Have they?
Yes they have. A very strong live band. The
line up reads like a who's who of who's in the TALC live
band. Bobby Fame plays the drums, Food keeps the bass in
check, Simply Jizz is on guitar with The Gift on keys and
Dr.Fun on guitar. Of course they all sing as well. Otherwise
you wouldn't hear the words.
I like the sound of this! Can I hear them?
Yes you can, they have a five track e.p. out
soon and you can listen to some m.p.3's on this very site!
